Alexander is a saxophonist and festival director. He will talk about how to find your place in the world as a musician, make connections, networks and whatis needed to successfully pitch to international jazz festivals.
Alexander Beets Biography
Alexander ‘The Hurricane’ Beets is one of Europe’s most prominent jazz saxophonists, renowned for his commanding sound, charismatic presence, and versatility as a performer. Whether leading his own ensembles or collaborating with top-tier musicians, Alexander brings an explosive mix of technique, emotion, and groove to every performance. He has garnered international acclaim with his explosive sound and undeniable swing over the last few decades, appearing in lineups with greats such as Deborah Brown (USA), Sylwester Ostrowski (PL) and Koh Mr Saxman (TH).
Beyond performing, Alexander is deeply rooted in the international jazz community. He is linked to major initiatives like the Amersfoort Jazz Festival, JazzNL, and the World Jazz Network, and contributes to the development of young talent through his affiliation with Fontys University of the Arts. Additionally, he serves on the Supervisory Board of Buma, advocating for musicians’ rights and the growth of the music industry.
